SF Bay Area Cypherpunks (80th Chairborne Regiment)
General Info:
DATE: Saturday 12 June 1999
TIME: 12:00-4:00 PM (Pacific Time)
PLACE: Oakland Convention Center
Securing the Internet with Linux FreeS/WAN
"Linux is user-friendly ...it's just particular about it's friends."
The June 1999 Physical Meeting of the San Francisco Bay Area Cypherpunks
will be a Linux-IPSEC Intallfest held at the CABAL / BALUG Linux installfest
at the Austin Computer Show at the Oakland Convention Center.
(The show normally costs $5, but there's a get-in-free email attached at the
bottom of this message.)
The CABAL/BALUG show runs from 10-4pm.
The Cypherpunks meeting will be 12-4pm (usually followed by dinner).
So bring your poor, your tired, your huddled PCs, yearning to be
Free-Softwared, Linuxized, and IPSECed. (Also, bringing a power cord,
Ethernet card, and keyboard will speed things up, but this is a
computer swapfest so you _can_ get stuff there.)
Less poetically, the sturdy bunch of foreigners developing Linux
FreeS/WAN have released 1.0 with support mods for Linux 2.0 and 2.2
kernels, and it's known to work with Red Hat 6.0 (using 2.2.9+) and
5.x, and some others, Hugh Daniel has run a beta installfest and
therefore passed the usual set of "learning experiences" so this
should be pretty clean, and CABAL / BALUG will be providing us with
tables and talking space.
