CryptoRights "Role" PGP/GPG Public Keys

These "role" PGP/GPG keys are used by the CryptoRights Foundation (a) for the public to communicate securely with CRF personnel filling particular roles such as Keymaster, Postmaster, Webmaster, etc., and (b) for these CRF staff members to certify important digital documents.

You will find a signature by our current Root key on these "role" keys to confirm their authenticity. If the CRF key you wish to verify seems to be expired, or was signed by a previous CRF root key that has been revoked or expired, please obtain an updated copy of the individual/role key obtaining it from our Keymaster using the appropriate menu choices on our Feedback Form.

CryptoRights Role Keys:

If you need to reach a specific CRF person by name rather than by role (e.g. for personal correspondence), please use the public key of the specific individual you are trying to reach. Such keys can be obtained directly from the Keymaster.

Using CRF's Role Keys:

  1. Click on one of the key links above.
  2. Select the version of the key you need/prefer. For maximum interoperability, we provide two separate versions of each key:
    1. Standard should be suitable for use with any OpenPGP-compliant client software, e.g. GnuPG. It is the basic key material only.
    2. Extended may be used with popular freeware and commercial versions of PGP that include "extensions" such as PhotoIDs.
  3. Click on the link for that version of the key you've selected.
  4. Copy the entire PGP Public Key Block on the page (everything in red text).
  5. Paste or Import it into your local keyring using your PGP or GPG client software. See your software's documentation for specifics on how to do this.
  6. Verify the key properties, either by importing our root key, verifying it and using it to verify other CRF keys; or, to verify any individiual CRF key fingerprint separately and directly, please contact CryptoRights headquarters using the General Contact Info on the contact info page, and then challenge any CRF representative to correctly confirm all of the following information as being precisely the properties of the key you acquired:
       PrimaryID:
         Created:
      Expiration:
         KeyType:
     Fingerprint:
  7. Sign it with your own key on your local keyring. ( Important Note: Please send the key you signed directly to our Keymaster but NOT to a "public" keyserver.)
